Bisleri Partners with Mysore Colleges to Boost Plastic Waste Recycling on Campuses

Bisleri International has partnered with Maharaja's College and Yuvaraja College in Mysore under Bottles for Change. Discover how the collaboration will promote plastic waste segregation, recycling awareness and sustainable practices among students.

Bisleri International has signed a Letter of Association (LOA) with Maharaja's College and Yuvaraja College, two constituent colleges of the University of Mysore, to promote responsible plastic waste management, source segregation and recycling under its flagship sustainability initiative, Bottles for Change. The partnership aims to engage students in practical sustainability activities and encourage responsible waste management practices across both campuses.

Under the collaboration, Bisleri International will provide training and guidance on responsible plastic waste management, along with recycling support. The colleges will facilitate the implementation of the programme and encourage students, faculty members and staff to participate in the initiative and integrate sustainable practices into campus activities.

The programme will include awareness sessions, workshops and plastic collection drives to educate participants about source segregation, collection and recycling. These activities are designed to help students understand how used plastic can be a valuable resource, explain the importance of recycling and encourage them to adopt sustainable waste management practices in their daily lives.

Commenting on the partnership, K. Ganesh, Director, Sustainability & Corporate Affairs, Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., said educational institutions could play an important role in shaping attitudes and behaviours that create a long-term impact.

He said the collaboration would provide meaningful opportunities for students to understand sustainable waste management practices and apply them in their lives. He added that learning through practical activities could inspire greater environmental responsibility among young people and help build a culture of sustainability within the institutions.

Dr. V. Shanmugam, Principal of Maharaja's College, said the association with Bisleri International was an important step towards encouraging responsible waste management across the campuses.

Through the Bottles for Change initiative, the college aims to sensitise students to the importance of segregating and recycling plastic waste and encourage them to adopt sustainable practices in their everyday lives. He expressed hope that the initiative would empower students to participate actively in building a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Bottles for Change forms an integral part of Bisleri International's Greener Promise vision for a more sustainable future. The initiative promotes responsible plastic management by raising awareness and building infrastructure to support the collection and recycling of plastic waste. It works with educational institutions, communities and other stakeholders to encourage behavioural change and strengthen systems that direct used plastic towards recycling.

The association with Maharaja's College and Yuvaraja College extends these efforts by involving students in hands-on sustainability initiatives. It also aims to equip them to promote responsible waste management practices in the wider community, contributing to the broader objective of building a circular economy for plastics.
